Updated Diary (generalised) of Christian Events in the
Newton Abbot Area - HERE
We
are delighted to bring the news that a number of churches have opened.
A
Prayer for healing
Our
God,
Your
Word says that You answer people when they call on Your name, and that You
deliver them. We ask that You would heal those who are sick or carrying the
COVID-19 virus without knowing it. Heal them and protect those around them.
Provide
a cure for the Coronavirus and heal our economy. Bring a quick and
miraculous end to the darkness in our world.
Whether
Your healing comes today, next week, or next month, we believe that you
will heal our world. And we will continue to praise You, even as we wait
for answers.
In
Jesus' Name, Amen.
However
we can continue to pray! So we have listed the commitments made at the
World Day of Prayer and would ask that you make them part of your own
prayer time.
-
To pray for all in our area that we will be united in faith of our blessed
Lord.
-
Be open to let Jesus, or someone else, be calling with his grace, to lead
us/show us a path.
-
Please let me have good health so that I can do more to help people.
-
My commitment is to pray for the Christians of Newton Abbot that they
unite in bringing all denominations together in praising God.
-
On seeing anyone in need, step up and offer help.
-
To always be there for friends and family - and help when help is needed.
-
I will continue to pray for peace, justice, equality for all peoples,
regardless of race, colour, creed or gender - as God loves us ALL.
-
To have an open mind and listen to what God would like me to do.....
-
To keep in touch with more distant friends/acquaintances to support them
if possible.
-
Help the homeless.
-
To have a relationship with our Lord. To pray for people that we meet who
are all in need and going through difficult times.
-
To prayerfully give more of my time, talents and resources, locally and
globally.
-
Praying for our town, that we can work together in Christian love.
-
Have the courage to speak to one or more of the many homeless I walk past
daily.
-
I want to share 'being made well' with people in Zimbabwe.
-
Be kind to everyone. Help all I can.
-
Pray for unity among the Christian Churches in Newton Abbot - reach people
as Christians, not denominations.
-
Pray daily for my community.
-
Pray for ways to help those in our community.
-
I commit to pray for out community of Newton Abbot and to lookfor ways to
reach out to people.
-
Try to be always forgiving and help others forgive.
-
To pray for Newton Abbot.

Historians will tell you that Newton Abbot was two
towns. Suffice it to say that the two former C of E
parishes of Highweek and Wolborough
were united as one parish
of Newton Abbot in 2017. There are
several other Anglican churches within just a very few miles at Kingsteignton, Kingskerswell, Abbotskerswell and Milber, not
necessarily part of CTNAD. With the large number of other churches in Newton Abbot,
the town is now thriving with Christian
Activity...

Good Friday Walk of Witness. This is one of our
biggest events and all Christians are invited to participate. Typically we
witness to the events of 2,000 years ago in a silent procession through the
town that may pause at various "stations" along the way finally
arriving at one
of our churches for a service.
Sadly
this will be the first year for a long time that we have had to cancel...

Here are 5 ideas on how we can care
and love those we know, even when we are socially distanced:
1. Keep up contact. Make a phone call, send an email, letter or card saying
that you are praying for them at this time.
2. Keep an eye out for the anniversaries of life events. Make that phone call
to let people know you care.
3. Send a small gift or book purchased on line, maybe insert life words
etc.
4. Serve where you can in delivering groceries or medications.
5. Make sure the people you pray for know how much you value them by whatever
means you can find.
